Elongation

What is elongation?

Elongation is an overstretching of a muscle or of one of its tendons. The vast majority of muscles attach at each of their extremities to two separate bones; generally, by an intermediary extension of its structure called a tendon.

What are the most common signs and symptoms of elongation?

  • Pain in the affected muscle
  • Increase in pain when touched or upon contraction of the affected muscle

What can cause elongation?

Excessive strain on a muscle during effort can result in the stretching of the muscle fibers beyond their elastic capacity.
