Pre and Post-cesarean

Prenatally your physiotherapist can carry out a preparatory evaluation. She will evaluate the global functioning of the pelvic floor, the presence of abdominal diastase (separation of abdominal connective tissue) etc. She can also advise you about details of the procedure, creating a support plan and managing any pain following the cesarean.

Post-partum (during the first days/weeks), your physiotherapist will evaluate the scar, give advice about pain management, normal and optimal functioning during the last trimester and about a gradual, gentle return to physical activity. Then, in the weeks/months that follow, evaluation and care of your scar can occur. As needed, the physiotherapist can eventually analyse perineal and pelvic function.
