Tendonitis, or inflammation of the tendon, can happen following a repeated movement (overuse) or sudden trauma (elongation or excessive effort) or sometimes be secondary to a vertebral problem. Some tendonitis are so commonly associated with certain sports that they merit their own nickname, for example, \u201ctennis elbow\u201d and \u201cgolfer&#8217;s elbow\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of muscles are attached at each extremity to two different bones by means of an intermediary extension of their structure called a \u201ctendon\u201d.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>What are the most common signs and symptoms of tendonitis?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Pain which increases with effort and decreases at rest<\/li>\n<li>Decrease in strength and functional ability<\/li>\n<li>Sensitivity with palpation<\/li>\n<li>Sometimes swelling and redness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>What causes tendonitis?<\/h3>\n<p>A tendonitis is most often caused by repetitive movement at work or excessive effort during the practice of a sport.
